GENERAL CARE TIPS

Jewelry should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.Below are some jewelry care tips to help you protect your precious jewelry.

  • Plated jewelry can be damaged by chemicals (found in hairspray, perfume, hand sanitizers and lotions). Always be sure to apply these agents first and let them dry before putting on your jewelry, as the alcohol, moisture and chemicals in these agents can cause color loss.
  • And remember to take off your jewelry before gardening, strenuous exercise, and any water-related activities like bathing and water sports, as most metals and natural pearls react with chlorine, moisture, and sweat.
  • Wipe your jewelry with a soft cloth at the end of the day. Regular wiping with a jewelry polishing cloth prevents dirt buildup, removes light tarnish, and prevents tarnish from returning, so the original shine and sparkle of your jewelry will last longer.
  • To remove dirt from rhodium-plated or gold-plated jewelry, soak it in lukewarm, clean water with a small amount of PH-neutral soap. Rinse it well to remove any mineral residue and wipe it dry immediately with a soft cloth.
  • To avoid scratches, it is also important to store jewelry separately and securely, preferably in the original box or in a jewelry box with separate compartments when not in use.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

My jewelry is tarnished. What can I do?

Tarnishing of silver (even gold plated) is a very normal process. The jewelry absorbs skin particles, perfume, cosmetics, etc. and in addition, over time, the item also oxidizes with the sulfur content in our air, which is a natural reaction (as with gold jewelry) and is not due to a quality defect.

To enjoy the valuable and beautiful jewelry as long as possible, you should follow the basic rules of jewelry care, as described above.

Can I go swimming with the jewelry?

No, we recommend taking jewelry off before bathing, showering, going to the sauna or solarium. Steam, humidity as well as fragrances and chemicals in soaps and shampoos can tarnish and dull the materials.

Where do I store my jewelry?

Your jewelry feels most comfortable in its Gavero box. There it is protected from environmental influences and moisture. It is important that the jewelry is not stored in the bathroom or other damp rooms, as this can cause the jewelry to tarnish. If your jewelry does tarnish, clean it carefully with a silver polishing cloth.

Can I wear my jewelry while exercising?

We recommend taking off jewelry before exercising. Sweat and the alcohol in deodorants and disinfectants can react with the metals, pearls or stones and cause color loss and dullness. Chlorine and salt can also tarnish metals, so don't wear your jewelry while swimming. There is also a risk of damaging the jewelry if it is worn during physical activity.

How often should I clean my jewelry?

You should clean your jewelry that you wear every day about once a week and other jewelry in your jewelry box about once a month.

How can I repair the clasp on my earrings?

Earrings may be difficult to close if the clasp is bent during use. This is easily remedied by pressing lightly on the clasp, either up or down, so that it snaps back into place.
